Administrative history / Biographical sketch
Ross Garner served in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War.
Scope & content
Collection consists of photographs related to Garner's career in the Royal Canadian Navy. The majority of photographs are of Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) ships during the Second World War. Other ships include U.S. Navy and passenger ships. The collection also includes photographs of memoriam cards honouring RCN ships lost during the Second World War (22 items: VMM79.01.070 to VMM79.01.089). The first date listed in the description of each of these memoriam cards is possibly approximately the date that each ship joined the RCN or entered the war, or a date of significance to Garner. The second date is the date that each ship was sunk.
The 22 duplicates of the photographs of memoriam cards with identical descriptions were stored in a small photo album. These duplicates have been removed from the photo album for preservation and stored in a separate folder.
