Halse stamp collection [textual records]

Collection number
VMM90
Physical description
30 cm. of textual records.
Administrative history / Biographical sketch
Materials were collected by John Halse, son of George H. Halse, a Vancouver pioneer. No further information is available.
Scope & content
Collection consists of 8 volumes of historical stamps preserved in mint condition, usually affixed to binder pages with accompanying contextual and historical information. Interfiled throughout the collection are newspaper and magazine clippings that provide more context for the stamps. Viewers should note that while the stamps may deal with individuals or events from several hundred years ago, the stamps themselves are most often commemorative in nature and were therefore created more recently.
Arrangement
Series have been determined by the collector. Each series represents one of the collector's original binders, which have since been rehoused.
Plastic covers and acidic construction paper backings have been removed, except in cases where they were needed to keep the stamps affixed to their pages.
