Description

A weapon made from a sawfish rostrum, the bony snout of the saw shark pristiphorus. Blunt tip, flat body with .5 cm teeth running along either edge. Base tapers. No handle. Circa 1875.

This rostrum was likely collected as a natural specimen rather than a weapon. However, similar pieces would have been used as weapons and/or tools.
