Scope & Content

This film was prepared in 1942 for the R.C.M.P. by Cst. F.S. Farrar, first mate of St. Roch from 1930-34 and 1938-43. From June 1940 to Oct 1942, the St. Roch traversed the Northwest Passage from the Pacific to the Atlantic Oceans. In 1950 Farrar served as a crew member on St. Roch when she traveled from Vancouver, BC to Halifax, NS via the Panama Canal, thus making him the first man to circumnavigate North America. This film footage was taken using Captain Larsen’s movie projector and film. Various portions of the footage were taken by Larsen and members of the crew.
